Udupi, Jun 1: After three long years, Ravi Singh from Rajasthan was reunited with his family, thanks to social worker Vishu Shetty’s efforts.
Three years ago when Ravi Singh stepped out of his home, he was mentally ill and was leading an uncivilised life near the national highway in Brahmavar. Vishu Shetty heard about him and thought about helping him before taking him to Dr A V Baliga Hospital where he got treatment. At this time he tried to collect information about Ravi Singh’s family but failed.
Then he was taken to Hombelaku Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre, an affiliated organisation of KMC, Manipal, and was treated there for six months. Even there Vishu Shetty failed to reach out to Ravi Singh’s family.
At the end, Ravi Singh was taken to Srisaayi Sevashram for further treatment and to provide shelter until his family was found. The chief of the ashram Dr Uday Kumar and his wife, treated him with techniques of meditation and yoga and were successful in finding Ravi Singh’s family.
Dr Uday Kumar as per the information given by Ravi Singh reached the Shradda Rehabilitation Centre, Mumbai who contacted Ravi Singh’s parents and handed over him to his parents after three years of separation.
Social worker Vishu Shetty expressed his gratitude to the doctors of Hombelaku Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre, Deergakaala Rehabilitation Centre, Dr Uday Kumar and his wife, chief of Srisaayi Sevashram, and Shradda Rehabilitation Centre.
