Puttur, Jun 1: The spark of rebellion that ignited in the Puttur legislative constituency of the district is still not doused. Some activists of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) and Bajrang Dal (BD) of the district are up in arms against MP Nalin.
These rebels are also challenging that they will get Nalin defeated if he is fielded by the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections. The rebels accuse those who are in the forefront of the fight for Hindutva as being deliberately kept out of power.
The rebellion of Hindutva propagators was seen for the first time during the murder of Praveen Nettaru murder. This got propagated when Arun Puttila was denied a BJP ticket in Puttur. BJP candidate Asha Timmappa Gowda was pushed to the third spot in Puttur and the rebel candidate Arun Puttila almost won the election.
Immediately after the legislative assembly elections, supporters of Arun Puttila started a twitter campaign ‘Sansathige Puttila’ pushing for his candidature for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The anger of Hindutva activists increased after the accused in the banner issue at Puttur were beaten mercilessly by the police. Puttila supporters say that the police acted on the behest of the BJP leaders as Congress still did not assume power during the time of the incident. However, Nalin had also condemned the police atrocity.
Now an anti-Nalin faction in Dakshina Kannada BJP is trying to cash in on the Puttur police beating issue. Vijayapura BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had recently visited Puttur and met the victims of police atrocity and indirectly spoke against MP Nalin.
After the police atrocity incident, an organization by the name ‘Puttila Parivara’ was formed in Puttur and recently they showed their strength by holding a procession.
