Heavy rains cool Udupi district from simmering mercury

Udupi, May 30: Rains brought relief to the people of various parts of the district on Tuesday May 30 morning.

The weather was cloudy and extremely humid right from early in the morning on Tuesday. Rain accompanied by heavy winds, thunder and lightning started pouring from 8 am.

People of the district were eagerly awaiting the rains. Various parts of the district were facing acute shortage of drinking water also. The municipality had rationed the drinking water also.

With rains pouring in, the people from the water scarcity affected areas can now heave a sigh of relief.

    Need normal monsoon to start to get relief from simmiring mercury. These drizzles merely raise the heat and humidity levels afterwards.

    Very true; for the temperature to come down, it should rain heavily for atleast two days and quench the heat of the earth! Moreover, gusty winds actually push the rain clouds away thus curtailing the rainfall!

    This appears to be just a drizzle after the excessive heat and humidity; such type of intermittent drizzles only have a cooling effect for a short period of time; but thereafter, the heat wave resumes with a vangeance making life miserable!!
