Bengaluru, May 29: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday, May 29, accused the ruling Congress government of cheating people in the name of its 5 poll guarantees.
Addressing the media at the BJP office along with state BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, former minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan and others, he said the Congress leaders promised everything free to everybody during the elections and now after coming to power, they are delaying and different ministers are speaking in different voices.
The Congress chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar and other ministers had at their first press conference after being sworn in had declared that they have given in-principle approval for all the 5 guarantees and the government order did not speak of any conditionalities. Now, they speak differently.
This proves that the Congress promises something and does something else, he said urging the government not to play politics in implementing Central projects.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his illustrious leadership and taking the country on the development path. He is a world renowned leader and Modi’s nine-year rule has done wonders for the country.
Earlier, he met and held discussions with Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi at the party office.
