Puttur: ICSI Study Centre inaugurated, MoU signed at St Philomena College

Puttur, May 27: The department of business administration of St Philomena College and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Mangaluru Chapter embarked upon a new venture of introducing The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Study Centre at St Philomena College campus and signed an MoU in the inaugural programme conducted for the purpose at the SJM Hall of the College on May 26. ICSI provides quality human resources through coordinating company secretary courses at national level.It has been a long time desire of the college to establish the study centre and the dream has been realized with the unquenching efforts of the principal of the college. St Philomena College is introducing BBA (CS Integrated)in the academic year 2022- 23.

The study center was inaugurated by the chief guest CS Pradeep Kulkarni, vice chairman of Southern India Regional Office of ICSI. The MOU was signed in the august presence of CS Sonali Suresh Mallya, chairperson, ICSI Mangaluru Chapter and rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college. The programme was presided over by Fr Jerome Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent of the college. Fr Stany Pinto, campus director participated as guest of honour.

CS Pradeep Kulkarni in his inaugural addressed expressed his joy on having inaugurated the Study Centre as it is a significant milestone for both St Philomena College and the CS organization. As education is the weapon to fight the world, upgrading oneself in the field of knowledge is mandatory. He motivated the students to enroll without any hesitation and urged all the students to make use of the study centre. As company secretary is a key managerial person, in a nutshell he elaborated every aspect of CS course and the responsibilities and roles to be played by a CS.In continuation he said that pursuing higher education will help an individual to contribute to the economy of the country. A CS can be a torch bearer to the corporate world, he said.

Fr Stany Pinto, guest of honour, gave a call to the students to choose a career which best suits their wishes and desires in the path of success. He thanked the CS organization for choosing the institution to grant a study centre.

Principal rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and chair person, ICSI Mangaluru Chapter CS Sonali Suresh Mallya exchanged the duly signed memorandum of understanding on this occasion.

Principal on his address said that the comprehensive details about the course is given by the authority in the field CS Kulkarni and it is to be taken seriously by the students. Opportunities provided in the College are to be best utilized by them and should emerge as the finest human beings.

CS Sonali Suresh Mallya, expressed that this was the first study center in the taluk and called for the students to benefit from the same. She said that worthiness of a person depends on caliber, experience, patience and good things can occur only over a period of time.

The president of the inaugural ceremony Fr Jerome Lawrence Mascarenhas expressed his joy by saying that it was a historical day for St Philomena College. It is an added feather to the cap of the college to have this course in BBA.He hoped that the study centre be instrumental in forming the life of the students and greater vision with hardwork will contribute to reap the fruits of success, he said.

Students BBA and BCom rendered prayer. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, dean of department of business administration extended preliminary remarks and welcome. Abhishek Suvarna, programme coordinator, St Philomena College Puttur proposed vote of thanks. Prashanth Rai, assistant professor department of BBA compered the programme. Pushpa, assistant professor department of BBA and Prof Ganesh Bhat, vice principal and dean of science was present.
