Mangalore, Jul 13: The residents of Kulur on Tuesday July 12 staged a protest against the police atrocity on innocent persons who were allegedly tortured by the police in connection with the Panjimoger mother-daughter murder case.
The protestors alleged that police on June 6 night took Saanu and Sunil of Kulur for investigation in a private car to Bikarnakatte and forced the duo to 'confess' to their 'crime'.
MCC member Shanta R speaking on the occasion said that police are not able to trace the real culprits and thus are forcing innocent people to confess. This is shameful and action should be taken against erring policemen by the senior police officers, she said.
They alleged that police are aware of the real culprits, but are trying to make scapegoats out of innocent people.
Sadashiva Karkera, a relative of Saanu said that the police assault on Saanu has affected him so much that he is unable to go about his daily work.
Meanwhile police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has assured that action will be taken against the guilty policemen.
