Bengaluru, May 20: Bhujanga Shetty (69), renowned ophthalmologist and president of Narayana Netralaya died on Friday May 19 due to cardiac arrest. He died in a private hospital at Yeshwantpur in the city. He suffered cardiac arrest in the evening and was admitted to the hospital immediately but succumbed later.
Bhujanga Shetty completed his MBBS in 1978 from Bengaluru medical college. He got training at Minto Ophthalmic Hospital in the city in 1982. He began his own clinic in the 80s and became president of Narayana Netralaya.
Shetty actively encouraged development of various sub sections of Narayana Netralaya. He turned Narayana Netralaya as the biggest super speciality eye hospital of Karnataka. He was an expert in phacoemulsification and cataract surgeries of the eye.
