Udupi/Mangaluru, May 14: In the five legislative constituencies of Udupi district, a total of 5,391 NOTA votes were cast, while in the eight constituencies of Dakshina Kannada district, a total of 9,095 NOTA votes were recorded.
In Udupi district, 5,342 NOTA votes were registered through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), while 49 were postal votes. In Kundapur, there were 1,199 NOTA votes on EVMs and nine postal NOTA votes. In Karkala, 915 NOTA votes were cast on EVMs, with an additional nine in postal votes. In Kaup, 798 NOTA votes were registered on EVMs, and seven through postal votes.
In Dakshina Kannada district, the total number of NOTA votes was 9,095. Sullia had the highest number of NOTA votes with 2,562, while Mangaluru recorded the lowest with 720. The figures for NOTA votes in other constituencies were as follows: Beltangady - 892, Moodbidri - 837, Puttur - 866, Bantwal - 821, Mangaluru North - 1,194, and Mangaluru South - 1,203.
In the Kaup constituency, candidates from the AAP, Janata Dal, Uttama Prajakiya Paksha, and three independent candidates received fewer votes than the 921 votes cast for NOTA. Similarly, in Udupi, 1,316 NOTA votes were cast, and candidates other than those from the Congress and BJP received fewer votes than the NOTA count. The same trend was observed in the Kundapur and Byndoor constituencies.
