Mumbai, Jul 12:  After constant suicidal attempts Vijaya Raut(31), a struggling actress succeeded in killing herself at her Goregaon residence.

Three years ago, Raut came to the city all the way from Bhubaneshwar to make it big in Bollywood but despite continuous attempts she did not succeed in bagging good roles in the industry. The actress was dejected of appearing only in crowd scenes

The failure had prompted the actress to slit her wrist, jump from a train and consume sleeping tablets in the past but she has survived. But this time Raut hung herself using a shawl at her flat in Goregaon (West).

Assistant Police Inspector S Roman from the Goregaon police station said "Raut had tried to kill herself many times in the past but she was unsuccessful. This time, however, she hung herself about three days ago in the flat where she has been staying alone for the past year”.

Though Raut did not leave any suicide note, it is very clear from the statements of her friends and associates that her failure to make it big in Bollywood was the reason behind the suicide.

The body has been sent to Bhagwati Hospital for postmortem. Raut's friends and neighbours told the police that she had divorced her husband in Bhubaneshwar before moving to Mumbai and had even got plastic surgery done on her hand to remove scars, in the hope of getting roles.  She had even worked as a stage dancer in some shows in Dubai.
