Mangaluru, May 12: “The selfless service of nurses is responsible for the international recognition received by K S Hegde Hospital. Proceed in your duty with modern knowledge, learning new technology”, said Nitte, deemed to be university chancellor Dr Sathish Kumar Bhandary.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 'International Nurses Day' at K S Hegde Hospital, at its glass house on Friday.
“There are large-scale changes in the nursing department of K s Hegde Hospital. The earlier two shift duty has been increased to three shifts. Therefore there are changes in the 12-hour duty,” he said.
“Nurses are like the heart and soul of hospitals. They perform their duties on the basis of human values. Their services increase the dedication towards their work. Therefore, they unite and work in coordination,” he said.
The 'International Nurses Day' held in memory of Florence Nightingale was celebrated after cutting the cake and lighting a candle. Winners in various competitions were presented prizes.
Kshema Hospital paediatric surgeon Dr Sandeep Rai, assistant medical superintendent Dr Muralidhar Pai, nursing college principal Dr Fathima D’ Silva and nursing division superintendent Colonel J J Elizabeth were present.
Assistant medical superintendent Deryl Aranha rendered the vote of thanks. Anita Sebastian compered the programme.
