Mangaluru, May 11: MathWorks, the leading developer of mathematical computing software, has initiated the credentialing of institutions and universities with a campus-wide license to help educational organizations stand out while interacting with corporations and student applicants. With the active use of MathWorks products in accelerating the pace of engineering education, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangalore has been recently credentialed by MathWorks.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of SJEC, said, “SJEC has been associated with MathWorks through its use of the MATLAB software since a number of years. As a readily accessible tool which allows visualization and simulation of mathematical, as well as engineering computations, MATLAB has played a crucial role in encouraging our faculty and students to experiment with, as well as build, projects with better reliability. The campus-wide licensing model allows any student or faculty to have anywhere, anytime access on any device. Integrating learning through MATLAB has helped our faculty to bring practical validation of theoretical concepts directly into the classroom, thereby driving our Outcome Based Education (OBE) mechanisms of active and lifelong learning. SJEC is delighted to receive this recognition from MathWorks and thanks their management for this honour."
Through this programme, SJEC provides unlimited access to MathWorks products to all students, faculty, staff, and researchers, on- and off-campus. SJEC has also adopted the MathWorks products and workflows in multiple courses within the engineering syllabus. Most notably, the education institution’s department of mathematics has introduced MATLAB into mainstream use for the mathematics lab. Engineers and scientists need a programming language that lets them express matrix and array mathematics directly. MATLAB enables engineers, researchers, and students to intuitive and concisely use linear algebra, data analytics, signal and image processing, and control design. Faculty members from multiple engineering disciplines and MathWorks expertscollaborated to prepare the content and deliver the course to students using MathWorks products.
