Mangaluru, May 9: Preparations for elections were conducted in Ullal at the Mangaluru University mustering centre on Saturday. More than 2,000 people including booth officers, staff, and security staff attended and took electronic ballot units, control unit and VVPATs to the respective polling booths.

Revenue officers and police opened the strong room of the mustering centre and conducted the working process of the polling booths. Booth officers and staff registered their names in front of the mustering centre, went inside the centre, inspected the ballot and control units and informed the officer and got them handed over.

There are 210 booths in the constituency. 252 ballot units and control units and 273 VVPATs were handed over to the officers.  Eight booths have been decorated to create awareness among the voters.

Nearly 1,200 polling staff, 253 additional polling staff, more than 700 police station staff in Mangaluru commissionerate limits, central reserve police force, Karnataka reserve police force, Maharashtra home guards and local home guards were deployed. They went to the polling booths in about 84 vehicles including government and private buses and mini buses.
