Kadaba, Apr 30: A pickup truck suspected of carrying illegal beef violated a police stop sign, hit a barricade, and fled the scene on Saturday afternoon at the Atoor checkpoint on the main road near Ramakunja.
Police personnel at the checkpoint had to jump aside as the pickup driver sped away. When pro-Hindu activists gave chase, the driver abandoned the vehicle at Sharada Nagar in Golittadi and escaped. It is alleged that the beef being transported was shifted to another vehicle along the way.
Police confiscated the pickup truck and registered a case against the driver, Basheer. Locals claim that illegal cow slaughter is happening daily in Koila, and beef is transported every morning without any police action.
The pickup truck in question is believed to be used for the illegal transportation of cows and beef daily.
