Mangaluru, Apr 23: The Apostolic Carmel, Karnataka Province celebrated the closeness and communion on April 23 at the Mother House, St Ann’s, Mangaluru. The jubilarians of the year holding lighted lamps walked towards the altar along with the celebrant Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado with the retinue of altar girls in St Ann's Chapel which was decorated beautifully for the occasion, the choir lent itself with its melodies for prayer and celebration. It was the Thanksgiving celebration of the journey of 200 years of the birth of the founder Venerable Mother Veronica, the inaugural of the Golden jubilee of the province and the lived faith life of the sisters.

The celebrant Fr Leo Lasrado during the homily highlighted the steps involved of the breaking of the bread at the Emmaus experience and its relevance for the Eucharist.

The cultural programme that followed commenced with a prayer dance, greeting the jubilarians and inauguration of the golden jubilee year of the province. The books written by Sr Preema Quadras, “the agony and prayer of Jesus” and Sr Sylvette, the compilation of the “ACA Bond of Love” were released by the provincial superior Sr Shamita. The winning communities were happy to receive the prizes for the quizzes conducted during the year.

The provincial superior voiced her appreciation for the lived faith of the sisters she experienced and requested the members to work for communion in community, as per the call of the Synodal journey and keeping to the theme of the provincial chapter 2022. She briefed the sisters the plans and activities chalked for the jubilee year and requested the cooperation of everyone to make them actualize to grow in communion, participation and mission.

The celebration ended with the family meal, sharing with each other the smiles, joys and communion.
