Mangalore, Jul 6: Veronica Judith Carlo, popularly known as Judy Pinto, Konkani writer and resource person and Hindi lecturer of St Aloysius College (SAC), was appointed as vice-principal of the institution. This is the first time in SAC’s 131-year history that a woman has been appointed to the post.
Judy Pinto has translated Hindi literature into Konkani. The city-based Sevak Publications had published ‘Salvonechy Jeek’, a Konkani translation from Hindi by Judy Pinto, which bagged the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Special Book Award.
She is pursuing a PhD in Hindi. She is a member of the Mangalore diocesan family welfare committee and has played a key role in the Konkani textbooks committee. She is a counsellor and juror for various competitions and a resource person.
