Mangalore, Jul 1: Some places in Karnataka coast and several others in southern hinterland of the state experienced rains on Thursday June 30. Bhatkal and nearby places recorded the highest rainfall of ten cms.
The twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada largely went without any rains. In between sunny weather, some drizzle was experienced. The coast also got some rain on Thursday night and Friday morning.
A wooden footbridge at Mandekolu in Sullia taluk snapped, compelling the people of Mandekolu and nearby places to take a detour to reach their destinations.
The meteorological department has warned of normal to heavy rains in most places of the coast and some regions in southern hinterland. It expects light to normal rains in some places located in northern hinterland during the period till Saturday morning.
