Bantwal: Police confiscate lacs worth rice carried in lorry without documents, seize vehicle

Bantwal, Apr 1: Police personnel from the rural police station here confiscated several lacs worth of rice that was being carried in a lorry without documents and took into custody the vehicle used for the purpose. They registered a case against lorry driver, Bengaluru Nelamangala resident Sunil and continued investigations.

The police took into custody 15,000 kg rice worth Rs six lac stacked in 300 plastic sacks weighing 50 kg each. The lorry that was taken into custody by the police was worth Rs seven lac.

The incident came to light when vehicles were being inspected at Farangipete, Pudu gram panchayat limits, Bantwal at 8 pm on Friday March 31 in view of the election model code of conduct.

As the rice in the lorry had no documents, a complaint was registered in the police station.
