Chikkaballapur, Mar 27: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday performed the Bhoomi Puja for implementing the Rs 93.4 cr passenger ropeway project to Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur.
The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has signed an agreement with Dynamics Ropeway Pvt Ltd Company for implementing the ropeway project on public-private-participation (PPP) model at a cost of Rs 93.4 crore.
The Dynamics Ropeway Pvt Ltd Co., will be taking up the 2.93 kms long ropeway on a 30-year concession on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
The ropeway project to the world famous tourist attraction of Nandi Hills will
definitely boost tourism and attract larger footfall, the chief minister said pointing out that world class tourist amenities will be provided at the foot of the Nandi Hills. There will be tourist facilities at the terminal on Nandi Hills too.
Bommai said when completed the ropeway project would have direct employment to 500 persons and indirect job opportunities to another 5000 persons. It will also give a big boost for the development of the entire region, especially Bengaluru rural, Chikkababallapur and Kolar districts.
The chief minister later held dialogue with medical students of Nandi Medical
College. Bommai said the government wants to establish medical colleges in all backward districts and steps are being taken to establish medical colleges in Chikkaballapur, Haveri, Yadgir and Chikkamagaluru besides Ramanagara districts.
