Bantwal: BUDA Chairman Arrested, Released on Bail

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Jun 22: Relating to a case in which an electrical contractor was allegedly assaulted on June 19, Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA) chairman, A Govind Prabhu, was arrested on Tuesday June 21. Prabhu was later produced in a court, which released him on bail.

The situation turned tense when the policemen arrived at Prabhu’s home to take him into custody, as a large number of his supporters had gathered there to extend moral support to him. Prabhu then volunteered to come out of his house with some of his supporters, and walk to the rural police station here on his own.

In a complaint filed in the said police station, Prabhu has been accused of assaulting Jagat alias Jagadish, an electrical contractor from Ramanagar Mani in Moodanadugodu village, on June 19 along with four others.

In a separate complaint to town police here, Govind Prabhu said that he had orally told the policemen about the death threat posed to him over phone by Jagat on June 17. He has also alleged that Jagat had used abusive and derisive language against former minister and chairman of Coastal Development Authority.
