Mangalore: Two Youngsters Commit Suicide

Mangalore, Jun 21: Shruti (23), daughter of the late Muttaiah Poojary from Muloor, committed suicide on Monday evening at the bathroom of her home. The incident occurred when all the family members were at home.

Shruti entered the bathroom, and hanged herself from its roof. The family members, who heard her screams, broke open the bathroom door. Shruti, who had become unconscious by then, was shifted to a hospital and treated. However, she breathed her last at night, it is learnt.

She was a student of St Raymond College Vamanjoor, and ended her life because of worries over failing in the examination she had appeared for recently, her brother said in a report filed at Bajpe police station.

A newly married lady named Poornima (21) chose to end her life at Sorpu in Shirva near Udupi on Sunday June 19 by consuming an insecticide used for floriculture.

Poornima, who had married Prashant on April 29 this year, consumed the insecticide that is used in raising jasmine crop, at the home of her husband in Shirva. She was admitted to hospital, but breathed her last on Sunday night. Reasons for her suicide are not yet known.

A report about the incident was filed with Shirva police station in this regard. Investigation has begun.

    We need to start on an urgent basis an organisation consisting of doctors, well wishers, teachers etc. who could help the people who are under depression. I heard of an organisation called The Good Samaritans who listen to such people.
