Bengaluru, Mar 19: On Sunday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a video conference meeting with the Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Panchayats and senior officials regarding the launch of the Swamy Vivekananda YuvaShakti Scheme, which was announced in the State budget.
The Swamy Vivekananda YuvaShakti Sangha Scheme will be formally launched by the Chief Minister on March 23.
Bommai said that the State already has Stree Shakti Self-Help Groups, which have been quite active, and the government wants to replicate the model with Swamy Vivekananda YuvaShakti Sanghas for promoting self-employment among youth.
The Chief Minister asked the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers to take more personal interest in monitoring the scheme and function as a support system from the time of identification of the beneficiary groups, securing bank loans, and initiating the self-employment ventures. Steps should be taken to provide training to the target youth by engaging the services of domain experts.
He said the plan allocation for the Swamy Vivekananda YuvaShakti Sangha Scheme is more, and if the projects are profitable, steps should be taken to ensure that higher loan amounts than the Rs 5 lac stipulated by the government must be provided through the banks.
Under the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Scheme (NCGTC), self-help groups are proposed to be brought together in joint trustee groups, the Chief Minister said, pointing out that two joint trustee groups are proposed to be established in each of the 5,951 grama panchayats in the State.
As of March 18, a total of 6,509 joint trustee groups have been created in the State, and another 5,393 joint trustee groups are to be created. So far, 1,754 groups have been released a revolving fund of Rs 1.75 crore at Rs 10,000 each for the groups. A total of 100 model proposals have been submitted to the banks, and 551 proposals have also been submitted for loan sanction and approval by banks.
