Bangalore, Jun 21: Former Chief Minister (CM), a sworn bete noire of the CM, B S Yeddyurappa, has demanded for the demolition of a four star hotel that has come up in Shimoga, terming its construction as illegal. The hotel belongs to the family members of the CM.
Supporting his allegations with documentary proof, Bangarappa said at a press conference here on Monday June 20 that the CM had ploughed Rs 27 crore he earned through corrupt means, in constructing this four-storied hotel on B H Road, Shimoga near the bus stand.
He pointed out that ‘Akarsh Properties’, set up jointly by CM’s son-in-law, Sohan Kumar, and sons, B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijayendra, along with Adarsha Developers owned by B M Jayashankar, was registered in 2006. “Akarsh Properties got the land registered for Rs 1.5 crore instead its actual price of Rs 3.4 crore, to avoid tax. After submitting several revised applications and blue prints for hotel construction, the municipality had permitted construction of three-storied building measuring 59,348 square feet on May 26, 2010. The hotel is built in 1,12,453 sft. The construction cost of the hotel is over Rs 39 crore, but only Rs 12 crore has been shown. Balance Rs 27 crore was contributed by unaccounted money supplied by Yeddyurappa,” Bangarappa alleged.
He said that the building has been leased to Royal Orchid Hotel from Bangalore, to which Yeddyurappa had extended concession in power bill, after the hotel had accumulated total power bill dues amounting to Rs 1.5 crore.
Bangarappa demanded from the central government to order a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry by approaching the Supreme Court, relating to scams in which the CM is involved with. He said that otherwise, the central government will be deemed to have been involved with corrupt activities along with Yeddyurappa.
