Kundapur, Mar 17: The police, a doctor, an ambulance driver and Snehalaya came to the aid of a mentally challenged person here.
Last Friday, an unidentified youth had fallen unconscious in front of a shop at Trasi beach. Gangolli station police crime SI Jayashree Honnoora and driver Dinesh noticed the unconscious youth and admitted him to Adarsh Hospital here with the help of Ibrahim Gangolli of Apadbandhava ambulance and voluntary workers Nadeem, Abrar and Lipton.
The hospital's doctor, Dr Adarsha Hebbar, who is also a social worker, treated the patient for six days with the help of his staff and discharged him on Friday, March 17. Gangolli station police inspector Vinay Korlahalli and Jayashree Honnoora later contacted rehabilitation centres for further assistance. Joseph Crasta, who runs the Snehalaya Rehabilitation Center for the Mentally Challenged patients in Manjeshwar, Kasargod, agreed to provide the patient with shelter. The patient, who only identified himself as Chotu Kumar, was admitted to Snehalaya with the help of Harish Kodapadi, Manjunath Trasi and 24x7 ambulance drivers Krishna Kitta and Ibrahim.
