Mangaluru, Mar 17: Nalikeyavara Samaja Seva Sangha (R) Beltangady S Prabhakar has demanded that home minister Araga Jnanedra and BJP's C T Ravi apologize to the people of Tulunadu for their sarcastic comments on the deity 'Guliga Daiva' during a recent speech in Shivamogga.
Prabhakar stated in a press meet on Friday, March 17, that C T Ravi's comment claiming deities like Panjurli and Guliga were in favor of BJP insulted Tulu culture. He called for the leaders to apologize for insulting the sentiments of the people, stating that the party that came to power on the basis of Hindutva now insults the culture of Tulunadu. Prabhakar added that Daivaradhane is an integral part of Hinduism.
Prabhakar also expressed concern that after the release of the movie Kantara, Daivaradhane has been insulted in various places. The minister for power, and Kannada and culture had promised to provide a pension of Rs 2000 for the Daivanarthakas, but only one person had received it after five months, which he found painful. He demanded that the government and the police department take proper measures against the insult of Daivaradhane and asked drama troupes to refrain from depicting any character Daivas in drama or movies.
Prabhakar further demanded that the leaders apologize by visiting Guliga Daivastana in Tulunadu for their insulting sarcastic comments. He warned of severe protests and gherao during their visit to the district if they fail to do so. The District President of Nalikeyavara Samaja Seva Sangha (R) also informed that both leaders should apologize in front of Guliga Daivastana in Tulunadu for their comments against the Daivas, failing which severe protests will be carried out in the upcoming days.
Additionally, the press meet attendees noted that even Koragajja daiva is being insulted in Drama and Yakshagana. The vice president of Nalikeyavara Samaja Seva Sangha (R), Ramu Shishila, Jaanardhana Balamanja, Anantha Mundaje, and Ravi M L were present at the press meet.
