Bengaluru, Mar 16: KPCC chief D K Shivakumar and Congress opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah have accused ruling BJP of swallowing Karnataka’s parts by fragmenting the state.
“The ruling BJP at the Centre and in the State is conspiring to split the State into small pieces through its nasty and dirty scheming,’’ they said and termed the BJP-Eknath Shinde Maharashtra government’s release of Rs 54 crore for implementing Jyothiba Pule Health Insurance Scheme in 864 villages in the border districts of Karnataka as nothing but gross violation of the federal structure of our country.
Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, have in a joint statement, said the Maharashtra government’s move and Centre’s silence was an insult to 6.5 crore Kannadigas.
“All Kannadigas will rise in revolt and are ready to fight for protecting the interests of the State and its land and people. We will never allow fragmentation of the State by the BJP,” they said.
They squarely blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the ruling BJP conspiracy and their enigmatic silence when a State Government is interfering in the neighbouring State.
“If the Maharashtra government is not dismissed by the President immediately for gross violation of the federal structure of the country, it is a proof that Modi and Shah are behind Eknath Shinde’s audacity,” they said.
The Congress leaders have lashed out at Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for “shamelessly sticking on to his position” and said if the Chief Minister had any self-respect, he should have resigned immediately.
