Bangalore, Jun 20: In an interesting development, about 15 seers belonging to Veerashaiva community visited Karnataka state Congress chief Parameshwar and urged the leader to give their community prominent representation in the Congress party.
Some of the seers have reportedly clarified to the leader that all Veerashaiva leaders are not with BJP, but are supporting Congress.
It is learnt that Parameshwar assured the seers that keeping in mind the upcoming assembly elections, Congress is in the process of rebuilding the party in the state, and will give appropriate representation to the Veerashaiva community.
Later, speaking to the media, Parameshwar said that there was no need to give political colour to the seers' visit to his residence, as he himself had invited them prior to some seers' foreign trip. It was just a courtesy call to seek blessings from them, Parameshwar insisted.
