Bishop Inaugurates St Mary's College of Commerce at Bela

Kasargod, Jun 15: St Mary's College of Commerce and Administration, set up by Bela church, was inuagurated here on Wednesday June 15 at 10 am.
The first college established by the Mangalore diocese in Kasargod district of Kerala, St Mary's College was inaugurated by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore who also presided over the function in the Yathri Hall.
"Higher education plays a great role in bringing about all-round development of the society," said Bishop Dr Aloysius in his message.
Fr Mathew Vas, parish priest of Angelore parish, Fr Basil Vas, parish priest of Alangar parish, the MLAs of Kasaragod district N A Nillikunnu and P B Abdul Razak were the chief guests.
Fr Vincent D'Souza, parish priest of Bela, Vicar Forane of Kasargod deanery and school correspondent delivered the introductory speech.
Newly-elected MLAs were honoured on the occasion.
David D'Souza , vice-president, Sr Treeza, headmistress, St Mary’s High School, Vincent D'Souza , principal of the college were on the dais.
Advocate M S Thomas compered the programme. Sr Mariyamma introduced the new lecturers.
The priests of the deanery and guest priests were among those present to witness the occasion. Earlier the Bishop and the chief guests were given a grand traditional welcome by the school band .
