Mangaluru: One dead, two injured after scooters collide with stationed truck

Mangaluru, Feb 23: Two scooters crashed into a truck that was parked on the Netravati bridge as it had suffered a breakdown. While the rider of a scooter died and pillion seriously injured, the rider of another scooter also sustained injuries. This accident occurred early in the morning on Thursday February 23.

The deceased is identified as Mohammed Naufal (26), a resident of Angaragundi. Pillion rider Ummer Farukh was seriously injured. The identity of rider of another scooter is not known.

Both scooter riders were moving towards Kallapu Global Market from Pumpwell to buy vegetables. Within few minutes of the first scooter crashing into the truck, the second scooter also hit the same.

Mangaluru south traffic police are investigating.

    When a vehicle is stationed they must make the visibility of vehicle better with lights and other means. Otherwise an unsuspecting vehicle may hit them.     Readers, two wheelers are a menace, as riders ride recklessly, often without helmet.. Moreover, these guys may be under the influence of " Substance Abuse " which causes hallucinations....

    Dear people average speeding is normal on 1 way roads. This accident hapens when we try to overtake a vehicle thinking that otherside gap is free as its oneway. But unfortunate thing was truck was stationary. And we cant escape from hit. Therefore try to drive responsibly . Look for front vehicle movments. Slowdown before overtaking. Stay safe mangloreans.

    In our country there are no rules followed by road users. The truck should have placed the triangle shaped reflectors warning others of broken down truck ahead well in advance preventing these mishaps.
