Puttur, Jun 13: A bus of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) shuttling between Sulliapadavu and Puttur hit a roadside tree at Padadka of Badagannur village on Sunday June 12. In the incident, which reportedly occurred after steering rod of the bus got snapped, 23 passengers suffered injuries of various degrees.
Seven of the injured were admitted into Puttur government hospital, while the other 13 were treated as outpatients. Ganesh Prasad (19) and Malati Rai (45) from Nettanige in Kasargod district, and Eshwar Bhat from Bdagannur, are being treated at a private hospital here. Bus driver, Balakrishna (28), Mudara (51) and Mithun (12) from Nettanige in Kasargod, Kusuma (36) from Sulliapadavu, Vasanti (37) from Padadka, as well as Paduvannur residents, Leelavati (32), and her son, Deekshit (5) were admitted into government hospital.
KSRTC made arrangements to disburse emergency relief amounts to the injured passengers on Sunday evening.
