Bantwal, Feb 20: A young man died after being run over by a moving train. The incident happened at Amtoor here on Monday, February 20 in the morning.
The deceased is identified as Vijayapura-based Adhimani. He was unmarried.
It is said that he was working as a daily wager and was mentally tensed for some time. People of his home said that he went out on February 17 without informing anyone. He was taking medication and it is suspected that he came to Dakshina Kannada district looking for work.
He was walking along the Mangaluru – Bengaluru railway track at the Amtoor curve when he was run over by a moving train at midnight. It is suspected that he died due to head injury and loss of blood. The staff on railway track patrolling saw his dead body and informed the police.
Mangaluru railway police inspector Mohan and ASI Madhuchandra visited the spot, kept his mortal remains at Wenlock Hospital morgue and informed his family.
Bantwal town police visited the spot after getting complaints from the public.
