Mangalore, Jun 10: Rainfall in both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts remained normal on Thursday June 9. As there were intervals between rains, the citizens had no problem in attending to their routine.
Huge waves have started lashing the seashore in both the districts. The sea was particularly turbulent near Ullal, endangering a number of houses located within their reach and giving rise to concerns of safety of people living near the seashore.
Trees which fell across roads hampered traffic at several places including the road from Harihara Pallattadka and Kollamogra near Subrahmanya. The meteorological department has renewed its warning to fishermen not to venture into sea during the next two days because of expected increase in the rain intensity, and speeding gale which might sweep the sea surface.
A house in Shiriyara in Udupi taluk was damaged because of a fallen tree. Other than this incident, no rain-related losses were reported.
