Chikmagalur, Jun 2: Karnataka Yakshagana Academy will hold a weeklong rejuvenation camp for 50 professional yakshagana artistes in Tenku and Badagutittu yakshagana forms at Horanadu in Chikmagalur.
Sri Kshetra Horanadu religious leader G Bheemeshwar Joshi will inaugurate the week-long rejuvenation camp here on Sunday June 5 at 4.30 pm.
Mudigere MLA M P Kumaraswamy will preside.
The theatre artiste Chidambar Rao Jambe, veteran yakshagana artiste K Govind Bhat and Yakshagana Kalaranga president Tallur Shivaram Shetty will be the chief guests.
The state higher education minister Dr V S Acharya will preside over the valedictory function here on Saturday June 11 at 4.30 pm.
Udupi – Chikmagalur MP D V Sadanand Gowda, vidushi vyjayanti Kashi and veteran yakshagana artiste Chittani Ramachandra Hegde will be the chief guests.
Guru Bannanje Sanjeev Suvarna and Karkallu Vishveshvar Bhat will impart Yakshagana training, besides introduction on Indian art forms, Yoga, technological application in Yakshagana and moral education.
Tenku – Badagutittu Yakshagana training, Taalamaddale, drama will be held on every evening.
The similar rejuvenation camp was held at the aegis of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala at Siddavana Gurukula, Ujire, in Beltangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district two years ago. It will be held at Horanadu, near here with the support of G Bheemeshwar Joshi, Murali Kadekar will be the convener of the camp, informed the Academy president Kumble Sundar Tao and registrar Mahadevayya in a press release.
