Udupi, Jan 4: “The state government is acting like an ATM machine for BJP ahead of Karnataka polls. It is only making announcements,” said former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
Speaking to media on Wednesday January 4, he said, “A swamiji is initiating a padayatra agitating against the government to consider various demands of the Billawa community. To gain the Billawa votes, the government is now preparing to create a Billawa corporation. Creation of corporations will be beneficial only if the government provides grants for providing interest-free loans to self-help groups. Corporations should not be created just for election purposes. The Kerala government sent a tableau and it was rejected. They just did not reject the tableau, but they rejected the teachings of Brahmashree Narayana Guru.
“Teachings of Kuvempu, Brahmashree Narayana Guru, Basavanna and Dr B R Ambedkar which were in the textbooks of Karnataka state, have been removed. No agitation against this was fruitful. There is no use of announcing Billawa corporation just for election purposes. If you really wanted to help the community, you would have done this at least a year ago,” he said.
Speaking about the BJP government’s commission issue in various developmental works, Sorake said, “We will undertake a detailed enquiry into the 40% commission bribery charges of the BJP government in the developmental works. The BJP is not talking anything about the commission issues faced by people, but are only concentrating on the emotional factors ahead of polls. We will enlighten the public about the 40% commission irregularities of the government.”
