Mangaluru, Dec 23: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the city of Mangaluru stands in the second position in Karnataka with respect to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is benchmark for economic progress.
Nalin spoke at the district level bankers’ verification committee meeting that was held at Netravati auditorium in the city on Thursday.
Nalin said that citizens, entrepreneurs, bankers and chamber of commerce for the city attaining second spot ahead of Mysuru and Hubballi which have more opportunity for tourism.
Deputy commissioner Ravikumar said, “Mangaluru is second in per capita income also in Karnataka. This is possible due to industries and various commercial activities. Compliments should be given to union and state governments and bankers.”
Nalin Kumar released book titled 'Glimpse of Government Sponsored Schemes'. Potentital Linked Credit plan of NABARD was also released on the occasion. Dakshina Kannada has secured third position in the state in implementation of PMEGP, the employment creation project of PM Modi. Mementos were given to chiefs of Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and SBI, who have given highest loans in the district.
CEO of zilla panchayat Dr Kumar, RBI AGM Biswas, NABARD DDM Sangeetha S Karta and district lead bank manager Praveen M P were present.
