Mangaluru, Dec 10: A woman from the city is earning Rs 60,000 per month by growing on the terrace of her house.
Kirana, resident of Konchady and lawyer by profession is involved in jasmine cultivation. During Covid lockdown, when Kirana was at home she thought do something and started jasmine cultivation. As she does not have agricultural land, she started the cultivation on the terrace of her house.
Kirana planted 150 jasmine plants in flower pot. Within six months she started getting yield. Now she earns more than Rs 60,000 per month.
There was a saying that Shankarapura Jasmine will not be available anywhere else except Shankarapura. Now Kirana has grown the same on her terrace and is successful.
Kirana plucks the jasmine everyday morning from the plant and ties it to thread and then gives to the market. She has continued her lawyer profession along with this lucrative hobby.
Kiran’s husband, mother, sister all cooperate with her in the cultivation of jasmine. Many have got inspired by Kirana and have started jasmine cultivation on the terrace. Now many have started growing mushrooms, roses along with jasmine on the terrace of their houses.
