Bengaluru, Dec 7: As the Karnataka assembly elections are nearing fierce verbal duel is on between political parties. Recently, BJP chief secretary C T Ravi had called Congress leader and former chief minster (CM) Siddaramaiah as Sidramullah Khan. This had created quite a controversy on social media.
Now, Congress has tweeted photos of some of the BJP leaders is Muslim attire and asked the public what they should be called as. It has tweeted the photos of CM Bommai, Jagadish Shettar, R Ashok, and Nitin Gadkari and asked whether they can be addressed as Bommaiullah Khan, Jabbar Khan, Ashwaq Inayat Khan, Mohammed Gadkari Sheikh.
Congress has tweeted an old photo of CM Basavarj Bommai, who took part in a Muslim programme and asked whether he can be called as Bommaiullah Khan based on his attire in the photo. Similarly, the photos of Gadkari, Ashok and Shettar are tweeted and asked whether they can be addressed by Muslim names.
Higher education minister Dr C N Ashwathnarayan also defended the statement of C T Ravi calling Siddaramaiah as Sidramullah Khan. Ashwathnarayan said that whole world knows that Siddaramaiah is Sidramullah Khan. It is better for him to change his name. He also condemned the Congress workers, who gheraoed the residence of C T Ravi in Chikkamagaluru.
