Islamabad, May 19 (PTI) The Pakistan government today said it had made no request to Saudi Arabia to accept the family of Osama bin Laden, who was killed in a US raid on the garrison city of Abbottabad earlier this month.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik made no request for the kingdom to accept bin Laden's family during his recent meetings with the Saudi leadership, said a statement issued by the Interior Ministry.
"During the recent visit of Minister for Interior Rehman Malik to Saudi Arabia, neither a request was made to Saudi Arabia to accept the family of Osama bin Laden, nor this subject was ever discussed with the Saudi leadership," the statement said.
The statement came after media reports said that Pakistan had requested Saudi Arabia to accept the widows and children of bin Laden.
Malik met King Abdullah in Riyadh on May 7 and several other Saudi leaders attended this meeting.
