Kundapur: Achievers Felicitated at 7th District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana

Kundapur, May 18: The 7th District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana that is being held after seven years here, concluded on Wednesday May 18.
Kannada litterateur A S N Hebbar presided over the Sammelana.
Awards were presented to Amembal Anand (journalist), Dr Aa Sundar (archaeologist), Kandavar Raghuram Shetty (Yakshagana litterateur), Yashavanti Suvarna (litterateur), Vittal Belady (literary organizer), Malini Mallya (litterateur), Pandurang Shanbagh (unique achiever), Muniyal Ganesh Shenoy (science literature), Venkatesh Pai Mumbai (Kannada development), Raj Ballal (movie director), Renjala Radha Madhav Shenoy (sculptor), Udupi Ranga Bhoomi (theater), Mailareshwar Yuvak Mandal (social service), Darshan – Bhandarkar’s College bulletin (compiling information), and Rakshita K Hejamady (extraordinary talent).
While conferring the awards, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor urged the people to preserve Kannada culture among the new generation.
Sammelan president A S N Hebbar said that Punaroor had started the movement to promote Kannada during his term as president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. He also lauded the contributions of Harikrishna Punaroor to Kundapur taluk.
Dr Taltaje Vasant Kumar, retired professor, Mumbai University, in his valedictory address, urged Kannadigas to view Kannada literature on the basis of equality, spirituality, and modernity.
Dr Kumar further said that the Kannada readership might have changed but reading has not diminished.
Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Ambatanaaya Mudrady congratulated the organizers for efficiently organizing the Sammelan by equally accommodating elders and the youth.
Suryanarayan called on Kannadigas to protect the interests of natives in Bangalore that has a majority of people from other states.
Koteshwar Suryanarayan Rao, B S Kurkal, Udupi taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Gananat Yekkar, Sri Kshetra Rural Development Project officer Hemalata Hegde, Padmanabha Kekunnaya, Kundapura taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Ko Ramanand Kamat, Vikramarjuna Hegde, and Bhuvanaprasad Hegde were present on the dais.
