Byndoor, Dec 2: Gold ornaments and cash together worth Rs 5.8 lac were reported stolen from a passenger of a moving train, according to a complaint filed with the Byndoor police.
In the complaint, Amul Kutty, 45, a resident of Chennai, Tamil Nadu and wife of Mahesh Kumar R has stated that she along with her family members numbering three of them had boarded a train on September 19 in Mumbai and were on the way to Mangaluru.
She was carrying a vanity bag in which she had kept gold ornaments that included a Mangalasutra necklace weighing 32 grams valued at Rs 1.5 lac, bangles weighing 24 grams valued at Rs 1.15 lac, 6 gold rings weighing 50 grams valued at Rs 2.25 lacs, 4 ear studs weighing 8 grams valued at Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 in cash before going to sleep in her compartment.
On September 20 in the morning, she found her vanity bag missing which was brought to the notice of the TTE. After alighting the train in Mangaluru junction, she provided her phone number to co-passengers to inform her about the vanity bag.
Amul Kutty gets a call that informs her that a vanity bag was found at a bin near the toilet with two mobile phone handsets and aadhaar card in it.
Amul Kutty has in a written complaint filed with the Byndoor police said the valuables in her bag were stolen by burglars near the Byndoor railway station when the train was still in motion in the early morning.
Byndoor police have registered a case and are investigating.
