Bengaluru, Nov 11: State government has decided to buy boiled rice for support price. The same will be available for ration card holders of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada district from January 2023.
Speaking on the subject with the media on Thursday November 10, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “Boiled rice will be provided to 6.20 lac ration card holders of all the three coastal districts from January. Two kg of normal rice and three kg of boiled rice will be provided.”
Poojary also said that ration card holders of all three districts of coast urged for supply of boiled rice and chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has agreed for the same.
Boiled rice paddy (Jaya, MO4, Abhilasha and Jyoti varieties) will be purchased in December under support price. The state government has agreed to release an additional amount for the same.
Minister Kota further said, “At present the central government is giving a support price of Rs 2040 for every quintal of paddy. We will add Rs 500 more and buy boiled rice at Rs 2540 per quintal. Our aim is to buy 13 lac quintal of paddy. Rs 132 crore will be spent from state exchequer. This paddy will be processed locally.”
