Udupi: Youth Dies at Kallianpur in Road Accident

Udupi, May 9: After a Tata Safari vehicle hit a two wheeler on national highway opposite Ashirwad Theatre in Kallinapur near here, a person named Shoaib (22) from Basrur Maragoli near Kundapur, lost his life. The accident occurred at around 10 pm on Saturday.

Shoaib had visited his relative, Asif, in Kallianpur. For undertaking his return journey to Basrur, he was travelling to Kallianpur bus stand by riding on the pillion of a motor bike driven by Asif. The vehicle hit the youth, when both of them were nearing the bus stand. A passerby named Tahir Nakash (29) from Shirva, who was at the spot of the accident, was also hit by Tata Safari, but he escaped with minor injuries. The four-wheeler sped away after the accident.

Although Shoaib was moved to KMC Hospital Manipal by summoning an ambulance immediately, he could not be saved. Asif, who was also injured seriously, is being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital. A case stands booked in the town police station here, relating to this incident.
