Mangalore, May 7: Relating to the reconstruction of sanctum sanctorum and outer precincts of Lord Venkataramana Temple in Car Street here, which are part of the renovation plans of the temple, Sri Sudhindrateertha Swamiji, spiritual head of Sri Samsthan Kashi Mutt, and his ‘Patta Shishya’, Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji, consecrated the holy ‘Nidhi Kalasha’ in the temple on Friday May 6.

Earlier in the day, the portrait of Sri Vibhudendrateertha Swamiji, during whose period the presiding deity of the temple, Veera Venkatesha, was  installed in 1804, was taken out in a procession in the streets of the city, by placing the same in the silver palanquin. The procession was accompanied by Bhajans and singing of devotional songs. Later, Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji was accorded a grand reception on his arrival.

Thereafter, both the Swamijis together installed the ‘Nidhi Kalasha’, a ritual that is necessary for the construction of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and other works to begin.
