Udupi, May 7: As strong wind has been blowing across the sea since the last some days, fishing boats have not been able to conduct their activities. Therefore, most of them returned to their bases in the coast.
While the gale has been providing some succour from heat for the citizens of the twin-districts since the last some days, it has also been turning nightmarish for fishing activity. Because of the wind, the sea has turned turbulent, making it impossible for the fishermen to continue with their activity.
While over 200 boats returned to Malpe by Friday May 6, a number of boats belonging to this place have been moored at ports like Ratnagiri, Margaon, Karwar etc. Even purse seine boats and mini trawl boats, which ventured into the sea on Friday morning to try their hand, aborted their efforts and returned to the port within a short time thereafter.
The fishermen hope that wind will slow down, and they would be able to resume fishing activity from Saturday.
