Udupi: Thieves Nabbed after Three Months, Ornaments Recovered

Udupi, May 5: The policemen of Kota station in the taluk arrested two persons, identified as Pravin Poojary from Bangalore, and Ravindra Kulal from Kavarady in Kundapur taluk, relating to a theft that occurred at Giliyar, Kota, on February 18. The arrests were made on Monday May 2, and gold ornaments worth Rs 1,20,000 were recovered from the arrested men.

Chikkamma Babi, a resident of Giliyar, Kota, had been away from her home to watch a Yakshagana performance on February 18. The policemen have collected information that Poojary and Kulal removed the tiles of Babi’s home, climbed down into her house, and took away gold ornaments kept in a cupboard there.

Brahmavar circle inspector, G Krishnamurty, and Kota police station sub-inspector, Mahesh Prasad, were involved with the investigation, under the guidance of higher police officials from the district.
