Mangaluru: Memorial book on CGS Thacode released

Mangaluru, Oct 17: ‘People like CGS (Cyril G Sequiera) touch so many hearts when they are alive, that is why they remain in the hearts of people even after their demise' said Fr Eric Crasta, former editor of Mangalore diocesan weekly Raknno and currently the parish priest of Cassia, Mangaluru. He was speaking after releasing the book, ‘CGS-Ek Amar Udaas' (CGS an immortal memory), a book containing the sentiments and feelings expressed by the friends and well wishers of late Cyril G Sequiera(popularly known as CGS, Thacode) during and after his last journey. The book is published by Richard Moras on behalf of Konknai Lekhak Sangh and is edited by senior writer and editor, Dolphy Lobo (Dolphy Cascia).

The programme was organized by the Konkani Lekhak Sangh as a part of its annual general body which was meeting held on October 16, at Sandesha, Bajjodi, Mangaluru.

The general body meeting was presided over by Richard Moras, the chief convener of the association. Dr Edward Nazareth, associate convener welcomed the gathering. Richard Moras presented audited balance sheet for the past financial year.

Concepta Fernandes, chief of Vivid Bharathi, Akashavani, Bengaluru delivered keynote address on Konkani literature. Dolphy Lobo, associate convener was present.

Flavia Albuquerqe introduced the chief guests. Lavi Ganjimatt proposed vote of thanks. The entire programme was compeered by Henry Mascarenhas. Sylvia Sequiera, wife of late Cyril G Sequiera, Henry Dalmeida, convener of Konkani Kutam, Bahrain, Stepen H Mascarenhas (Hemacharya), Eddie Netto, J F D'Souza, Irene Rebello, H R Alva and many other dignitaries were present.
