Kundapur, May 4: Manjaiah Shetty (56) from Nada Guddeangady in the taluk, breathed his last after a brief illness, on Monday May 2.

Shetty was the husband of writer, Mohini Manjunath, and father of Neetu, a well-known Sandalwood cine star who rose to fame with ‘Galipata’ movie. Manjaiah had resigned his bank job to settle down at his native place a few years ago.

He was actively involved with social and political activities in the region. He had functioned as the organizing secretary of undivided Dakshina Kannada district youth Congress committee, before joining the BJP and working for it in later years.

His funeral was conducted on Tuesday at Nada Guddeangady. Various dignitaries and BJP leaders participated in the funeral.
