Mangalore: Komu Souharda Vedike Seminars, Cultural Extravaganza on May 8

Mangalore, May 4: Dakshina Kannada district unit of Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike will organize seminars and a cordial cultural extravaganza at St Aloysius College auditorium here on Sunday May 8
at 3.30 pm.

Poet and columnist Jyothi Guruprasad Karkala will inaugurate the seminar.

Mumbai’s renowned columnist Dr Ravi Ra Anchan will deliver a talk on threats of diversity and uniformity in social and cultural sphere of the coastal district.

Bangalore-based litterateur and progressive activist Fakir Mohammed Katpady will deliver a talk on Urdu and its literature in the wake of communal flare-ups.

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike DK district president Suresh Bhat Bakrebail will chair the seminar.

MLA U T Khader, city-based Social Justice Forum president Fr John Fernandes and people’s activist P V Mohan will be the chief guests on the occasion.

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike state president K L Ashok will deliver the valedictory address.

The cultural programme will comprise of vivid songs of Kannada, Tulu, Beary, and Malayalam by famous musicians Basheer Kinya, Hussain Katipalla and Konkani folk dance by the artistes of Kudubi Janapad
Kala Vedike, Yedapadav. Tulu folk dances and ‘Daf’, a traditional dance, will be staged by different dance troupes of the coastal district.

‘Shudra Shambhuka’, a Yakshagana play, will be staged by Janapada Yakshagana Kala Koota, Tenka Yedapadav as part of the entertainment programme.
