Mangalore, May 3: During the month of May, the facility of accepting new passport applications in person has been extended in the regional passport office in Bangalore. This provision will be in force for a month.
These applications will be received between 9.30 am and 12 pm every day. A total of 300 applications will be received per day, on first come first serve basis. All the original documents required for passport issuance, along with a set of their Xerox copies, and demand drafts should be brought by the applications. Re-issue applications and PCC (police clearance certificate) applications will not be entertained. These applications will be accepted at Passport Seva Kendras as earlier.
The interested people can register their names for interviews by visiting the website, www.passportindia.gov.in. For new passports under Tatkal scheme, regional passport office in Koramangala, Bangalore, has to be contacted.
In view of a spurt in the number of passport applications, and to reduce the waiting period for the passport applicants, special provision for accepting 150 additional applications has been made in Mangalore and Hubli Passport Seva Kendras. This facility will come into operation on May 9, a release from the passport office said.
