Udupi, Oct 8: Association of Coastal Tourism, a body dedicated for the development and promotion of Udupi district will organise ‘Udupi Tourism Connect 2022’ from November 7 to 9.
“The programme aims at promoting Udupi tourism and attracting tourists from various places to visit and explore Udupi,” said Manohar S Shetty, president, Association of Coastal Tourism.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday October 8, he said, “The arena of education and health infrastructure available in Udupi district can be a centre for tourism also. Tourism is able to help in changing the quality of living of our people. Cuisines, places, temples, churches and other religious institutions are accompanied with water, air, road connectivity. Gradually, the way of living is also going up," Shetty said.
"In the three-day event, 60 persons working in the tourism industry such as travel agents, blog writers, event management, MICE coordinators, and media professionals will participate. Professionals from Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and other places are also expected to take part in this event. They will help to move more traffic towards Udupi to boost tourism,” he added.
Sharing the details of the event, Nagaraj Hebbar M, vice-president said, “We have been involved in the promotion of Udupi tourism for the past 15 years. Udupi is celebrating the silver jubilee of its formation as a district. Udupi Tourism Connect is a new concept to Udupi. Sixty of them participating in the event will be visiting various tourist places of the district such as beaches, temples and other sites. They will also be introduced to our culture and cuisines also.”
Hebbar said, “On November 8, a face-to-face interaction between stakeholders of Udupi tourism and the participants will be held. Public is also entitled to participate. A workshop will also be organised on the norms and business opportunities in the tourism sector. CRZ norms are also much more relaxed and detailed information will also be shared on this,” he said.
Gaurav Shenava, honorary secretary, Chandrakanth D, honorary treasurer, Uday Shankar Shenoy, Subhashith Kumar, Shashidhar Shetty and others were also present.
