Udupi, May 1: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will be organizing a ‘Konkani Mahila Sahitya Samskaratik Utsav’ at Rajangan of Sri Krishna Mutt here on Friday May 28 and Saturday May 29 in order to encourage Konkani women to exhibit their literary and cultural talent.

The Utsav will be inaugurated at Sri Krishna Mutt at 4.00 pm on Friday.
The literary and poets’ session, seminars, and cultural programmes will be held throughout Saturday.

Those who wish to take part in the poets’ session, seminar, folk art, singing, and drama are requested to send in their entries to the Academy.

Terms and conditions:

The programme is restricted to women only.  The minimum number of artistes in the cultural group will be 10.  Playback singers with musicians are allowed.  A minimum of 6 members in ‘Sugama Sangeet’ and Hindustani music are allowed.  The duration of the show will be 15 minutes.  Maximum time will be allowed to a group of 10 artistes to stage a variety of Konkani art forms while the renowned litterateurs and artistes will be allowed a minimum of 25 minutes. The time allowed for women’s short play will be one hour. 

The music should be genuinely Konkani, with no scope for using CD/cassettes, and it has to be related to Konkani folk art and culture.  The poets/litterateurs chosen by the Academy will moderate various sessions.  Each artiste, poet, and those who partake in the sessions will be reimbursed their bus fare and also be paid an honorarium. 

The groups that participate in various programmes of the Academy will be excluded from participation.  Various Konkani communities and local groups will be given a chance.  The name of the artistes’ group, address, and the name of the folk art including name of every artiste, have to be sent to the Academy.  Those who participate in the poetry sessions are advised to send in their recent profile in the literary and cultural field related to creating awareness among women in various spheres.
